Atlanta The City of Atlanta was captured by General Sherman on September 2, 1864. The victory helped Abraham Lincoln get re-elected two months later. General Sherman occupied the city on September 7, staying there until November 15, when he left to march to Savanah, Georgia. Atlanta and points east, all the way to Abbeville, South Carolina, are featured in The Lincoln Secret.
